Drogheda wins record-breaking 16th national title

Drogheda Brass Band has once again made history by winning their 16th national brass band championship title at the prestigious National Brass Band Championships of Ireland.

Drogheda Brass Band set a new record with the victory. They have won 16 championship titles, beating the previous record of 15 they jointly held with Arklow Silver Band.

The event, held at the Ardee Concert Band’s Bohemian Centre, was organised by the Irish Association of Brass and Concert Bands (IABCB).

On Sunday, 16th March 2025, the Augustinian Church in Drogheda was filled with the enchanting sounds of the Drogheda Brass Band, accompanied by the renowned Drogheda-based tenor, Sean Tester. The event, which was free to the public, drew a large crowd, packing the church with eager music enthusiasts.

New beginners' class starts this month

The multi-award-winning Drogheda Brass Band is recruiting for a new class of beginner students. 

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to read and play music in a fun group setting.

The band has a fantastic facility at East Coast Business Park that is the envy of bands around the country.

Under conductor John Carpenter, the band finishes its summer/autumn series of concerts when it entertains the crowds at the Oldbridge Harvest Fair on Sunday 25 September. 

The local group is now recruiting for its school of music, established in the 1980s.
